The problem is Samsung's chips aren't as good, not even close. Google Tensor is basically a full generation behind Qualcomm, with most benchmarks showing 30%+ gains by Qualcomm.
The only reason to choose them is cost, and there's already stiff competition there.
This feels like Samsung wants to wash its hands of the foundry division and KSMC would be a way to get money from the government to help make it independent without it going bankrupt.
The more competition the better right? Even a generation behind (at relevant prices) would still be worthwhile to a large segment of the market, right?
